TINY HANGING TEA LIGHTS

0

It’s all about the tiny things. The small stuff. Small stuff that makes you smile. And happy. These tiny outdoor tea light holders will have you smiling from inside. But these cute little charmers are good to travel outside, too. Perfect way to light up the night.

Yogurt from farmer markets in France sometimes are packaged in tiny glass jars. On a recent trip to France, my sister-in-law and I discovered them. Petit Pots. One look at them and I knew that they were something special. So we hand carried a small collection of these cute little jars all the way home with us. Endless possibilities! And they are adorable. Humm…So it’s summer. How grand, in a tiny way would it be to line a garden path with these jars transformed into hanging tea light holders? A sweet way to add charm to a walkway. Summer nights can be magical with these little twinklers.

If a trip to Paris is not in your future, but you still would like to make a few? With a little imagination a quick American substitute would be baby food jars. Not exact, close, still cute and tiny and can work in a pinch. Or, if you want authentic, you can purchase the French pots from a seller on Etsy; VintageBeth.

This is what you will need-

Petit Pot Jars
12 Gauge Decorative Wire
Pencil
Needle Nose Pliers
Tea Lights/Votive

Start by removing the label. If there is any glue left on the jar, run under hot water for a few minutes. Magic Goo Gone works great too. Clean and dry your jars.

With the wire, measure two lengths for each jar you are making. One 9 ½” and one 11”.

Place a pencil in the middle of the 9 ½” length. Twist the wire around the pencil to form a loop.

Hold the loop with one finger as you wrap the wire around the lip of the jar.

Twist the two ends once to hold in place. Make sure the twist is exactly halfway around the jar as the first loop.

Using your pliers, make a loop with one of the ends and twist together to secure.

Return pencil to the first loop you made. Turn the pencil until the wire fits snug around the jar. Remove pencil.

Trim the extra wire from the second loop.

With your needle nose pliers, form a small curl at each end of the 11” wire.

Slip the curl into one loop. Tighten the curl around the loop, closing the curl so it will not slip out of the loop. Repeat for the other side.

Now smooth out the wire to create the handle.

Place a tea light or votive inside jar. Hang on Shepard’s Hooks and you are done.

So simple and so sweet. Make a few. Line you path and invite everyone over for a garden party. Or bring your party indoors. It truly is all about the little things. Keep smiling!
