SUGAR AND SPICE AND EVERYTHING NICE

0

I’ve never considered myself a label sort of person. Not one who finds the need to announce what is hiding behind all the little spaces in my life. I know the drawer where my silverware is kept. As well as where all the pens and pencils are housed. No surprises when looking for towels, sheets and blankets, either. Open the cabinet under the kitchen sink, what might you find, cleaning supplies. Common sense and a little organizing goes a long way sometimes. Or so you would think. So why, might you ask, am I writing about the importance of labels?  Well, this is what happened to me one day. It is a true story…

One sunny Sunday afternoon, I sat in the kitchen watching my husband prepping for dinner. He was searing some beautiful beef cubes for a Bourguignon. Tossed gently in flour, pepper and a little salt, the cubes were gently sizzling. But the flour coating on the cubes were dissolving instead of browning. He tossed the cubes in the flour again, but once again, it dissolved. Something was up. I tasted the flour and surprise surprise, there was no flour in the flour! He had (truly accidentally) mistook the canister of confectioner sugar for flour. They both look the same from the outside, right? Maybe my house keeping habits might need a little assistance for others who live in my house too.

These cute little vinyl decal stickers adhere to most surfaces. To purchase…Link here. You can choose a variety of colors and words, and my favorite, you can create your own custom words. On you doorstep in a week. Love that.

First wash canisters. Use a microfiber cloth on the outside of the canisters.

Lay the label on the jar for visual placement.

Use a piece of tape to mark the bottom placement for the bottom edge of the label.

Gently pull the back off the label.

Remove the back paper completely. Make sure the entire decal (black letters) stays on the paper.

Line the bottom edge of the decal to the top of the tape. Be careful at this step. Once the decal sticks to the surface it cannot be readjusted for placement.

Gently rub the entire decal onto the glass with your fingertips.

A wooden spoon is ideal for burnishing (transferring) the decal onto the glass.

Gently rub all the letters with the spoon.

Carefully, start at a corner and gently, smoothly and slowly pull the paper off. Remove tape.

 Beautiful.

Apply vinyl decals to all the canisters

Pantry before...

Pantry after...Much nicer.

These two should never be mistaken ever again.

Ahh...something to be said for organization. And labels.
.

So much peace and harmony to an organized spot. Love love love.

My unused teacups have a new life.

Every room in the house should have a little fun in it... So that's where all the chips disappear to!
