HE'S SMITTEN, CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE

0

True love is in the air when a chocolate chip cookie is involved. Or so they say. Once upon a time I baked these cookies for my boyfriend to take with him on a fishing trip with a friend. Freshly baked, placed in a zip lock bag and wrapped in a brown paper bag tied with string. On an overnight stop at his family’s home on the way, he unpacked the bag that night for safekeeping. Apparently his family all concurred that she must be “the girl”. And, yes, they were right, married a short time later and living happily ever after. All because of my chocolate chip cookie. Or so they say.

So let me share this magical cookie recipe and see if it brings true love too.

 This is what you need:

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 2-3 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 ¼ - ½ cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 12 ounce bag (or more) chocolate chips (any flavor)

 Heat oven to 350 degrees.

In a stand mixer (or by hand works just as well) mix soft butter with the sugar.

Add the brown sugar.

Blend in vanilla extract. Then the egg.

Sift the baking soda into the flour. Slowly add flour/baking soda to butter/sugar a little at a time.

Once all is blended well, stir in the chocolate chips by hand.

Drop by spoonful onto a baking sheet. As you can see I prefer a nice big cookie. More love. Then bake about 8 minutes or so until the edges turn golden brown.

Let cool and place in an air tight bag or container. These cookies will start to get hard and crumbly with time because there are no preservatives in them. Place a slice of bread in the bag. Moisture from the bread will keep the cookies “soft”.

Make a few of these cookies, tie them in a brown paper bag. Give them to your special someone and see if they are smitten too.

So beautiful. Or so they say.
